A homecoming for Chief Willie Obiano the State Governor, as he arrived in Akpo community in Aguata local government area of Anambra state
The community organized an unprecedented reception in his honour and to give him overwhelming endorsement for his leadership style as well as pledge support for the All Progressives Grand Alliance as the vehicle for onward transformation of Anambra state beyond the governor’s first term in office
The reception was marked with exchange of pleasantries as happiness and laughter flew freely amongst the Governor, the chieftains and supporters of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.
The traditional ruler of Akpo, Igwe Jonathan Okpalaezecha, other red cap chiefs and people of the community who trooped out in their hundreds to welcome the governor in his maiden visit to their community also enjoyed a fair share of handshakes of love from him.
Addressing the people, Governor Obiano assured Akpo community of his commitment to ensuring that immediate intervention was made in road infrastructure and renovation of their school as soon as the federal government releases the N43 billion owed the state.
The Governor commended them for choosing agriculture as their major project for the N20 million project which the state government is currently undertaking in each of the 179 communities in Anambra state.
In his reaction to the development, the former National Chairman of APGA, Victor Umeh, expressed joy at the turn of events in Anambra state and said it was a clear indication that APGA government was working hard to bring dividends of democracy to the people.
Presenting his welcome address to the governor, the President General of the town, Mr. Godwin Ezeno, congratulated the governor for the milestones he has achieved in his quest to transform Anambra state within two years as well the vigor with which he has pursued his four pillars of development which are: Agriculture, trade and commerce, oil and gas and industrialization. Mr Ezeno described the pillars as very thoughtful even as he pledged the loyalty and support of the community for the Governor and APGA as the 2017 governorship election in the state approaches.
He appealed to the Governor for immediate intervention in constructing roads leading in and out of the community, renovation of the community’s secondary school, rural electrification, as well as appointing people of the area into government positions.
The high points of the occasion were the showers of different gifts to the governor as a practical proof of support to him as well as a certificate of endorsement.
